UpRide

The car is going anyway.
The seat is going spare.

Every weekday, cars leave Kasoa, Adenta and Weija for town carrying one person and three empty seats. UpRide matches you with the Commute Partners already driving your corridor, and you pay for the seat rather than the whole car.

Two ways to commute

Route or Pod.
Both are UpRide Commute.

One is built for a week that moves around. The other is built for a week that doesn't. Neither is a class of car, and neither puts you in a different vehicle.

Pod

Predictability

The same Partner and the same small group of commuters, on the same corridor, week after week. You learn the car, they learn the stop, and the morning stops being a question.

  • A recurring Partner rather than whoever is free
  • The same commuters alongside you
  • Costs more than Route, for the reliability rather than the vehicle

Route

Flexibility

Book the corridor when you need it. Different Partners on different mornings, whoever is going your way at the time you have to be there.

  • Travel on the days you choose
  • Whichever compatible Partner is running that morning
  • Best when your week moves around

How pricing works

Pod costs more than Route. That difference buys the same Partner and the same group every week, not a different vehicle.

How it works

Three steps, and none
of them is hailing a car.

No surge, no dispatch, no queue. You are joining a journey that was already happening.

01

Say where you're going, and when

Your pickup, your drop-off, and the time you need to be there. Once, on a schedule, or every weekday.

02

See who's already driving it

The Partners whose own route passes yours, with how far out of their way you take them, what time they leave, and how many seats are free.

03

Pick a person

Choose the Partner who fits your morning, not the car they drive. They accept or decline; when they accept, you have a ride.

The commuter app

A stranger's car is a big ask.
Here's the answer.

Say where you're going, see who is already driving it, and travel with a Partner you picked. These are the safety features running during the pilot. Partners are people driving their own route to work, not professionals, and approval reduces risk rather than removing it.

The opening screen of the UpRide app, with the headline Lets structure and Organize all your Trips over a photo of a passenger, above Get Started and Sign in with Google buttons.

You sign in as yourself. Identity is checked on both sides of the car before anyone travels.

The Routes screen in the UpRide app, showing an upcoming four-day plan leaving at 6:00 AM, the two ends of the journey, the Partner assigned to it, and a button to message them.

Your week, with the Partner attached to it. Messages stay in the app, so nobody trades phone numbers.

Nobody carries anyone until they're approved

Identity documents, a photo of the Partner and a photo of the vehicle are checked before they can appear anywhere. An unapproved Partner never shows up in a search result. Further checks are being added through the pilot.

You choose who you ride with

Their name, their rating, how many trips they've completed, what they drive, and where their own route runs. All of it before you request anything.

Routes are approximate on purpose

A corridor is drawn as a rough line, never an exact address. Home and workplace stay deliberately blurred. Nobody should have to give up their address to offer someone a lift.

Live tracking while the trip runs

Follow the journey as it happens, and send it to someone who'll want to know you got there.

Messaging stays in the app

Sort out the pickup without anyone handing over a phone number.

Boarding is confirmed with a code

A digital pass, so the person getting into the car is the person who booked the seat.

Everything we do about safety

Screens from the commuter app. Names and places in them are from a test account, not a live trip.

Three ways to travel

One app, built around
how Accra actually moves.

Commute is the daily one and the only one running. The other two exist because a factory shift and a trip to Kumasi are not the same problem as a spare seat.

Commute

The daily journey. Ride with a Partner already driving your corridor, on Route or on Pod.

For commuters

Group

Coming soon

One van, one route, the same people every weekday. For corridors carrying more people to one place than spare seats can reach.

See what Group will be

Trek

Intercity. A Partner posts a run with a fixed departure and a fixed number of seats, and you reserve one. You pick a departure, not a person.

See how Trek works

Driving one of these yourself? Publish the route you already take and take someone with you.

The partner app

The other half of the seat.
Built for the person driving.

Go online when you set off, answer the requests that fit the route you were already taking, and watch what the seats bring in across the week. You are asked, never dispatched.

The UpRide Partner app home screen, showing a map of the Legon area of Accra, an offline toggle, today's earnings at zero cedis, a prompt to set up a payout account, and a Requests section.

Your morning, on one screen. Go online, see who is asking, take the ones that suit the drive you were making anyway.

The Earnings screen in the UpRide Partner app, showing this week's total, a cash-out button, and separate figures for commute income and one-off rides. All figures read zero cedis.

Commute seats and one-off rides counted separately, week by week, with cash-out in the same place.

See how partnering works

Screens from the Partner app. Figures read zero because no trips have run on this account, not because of what a Partner receives.
