UpRide Group · Coming soon
A van on the route.
Not a seat in a car.
Some corridors carry too many people going the same way for spare seats to reach them. Group is the answer we are designing for those: a vehicle put on the route itself, rather than a seat borrowed from somebody's own commute.
Coming soon
Group is being designed. It is not open, there is no route running, and nothing on this page can be booked. What is on it is the shape of the idea and the reason we think it is worth building.
A van on a route is a different undertaking from a spare seat in somebody's car, and the parts that decide whether it is even possible — the vehicles, who drives them, and what that requires — are still being worked out. We would rather say that than describe a service that is not there.
Why it exists
Spare seats cannot carry
a whole shift.
UpRide Commute works because a car going to town has three seats doing nothing. That logic runs out when the same corridor is moving dozens of people to the same gate at the same hour — at that point the honest answer is a vehicle on the route, not more borrowed seats.
A shift that starts together
Wards, factory floors and warehouses move people in blocks. When forty people need to be at the same gate at the same time, spare seats in ones and twos do not cover it.
A corridor with one destination
Campuses, hospitals and industrial estates pull from the same handful of communities every morning. That is a route, not a scatter of individual journeys.
Hours the city ignores
Nights that end at seven, starts before five. The times with the fewest Partners on the road are the times a fixed vehicle would matter most.
Three products, one app
Where Group sits
next to the other two.
It recurs like Commute and it uses a vehicle of its own like Trek. It is not a Commute plan — Route and Pod are plans, and both of them still put you in a car somebody was driving anyway.
| Commute | Group | Trek | |
|---|---|---|---|
| You are travelling with | Whoever the Partner accepted | The same group, every day | Whoever booked that run |
| The vehicle is | The car they drive to work | A van put on the route | Something built for a group |
| It repeats | Weekdays, on a schedule | Weekdays, on a schedule | Once, on a date |
| Seats are | Spare space in their car | Places on a fixed route | Inventory on the run |
For employers and communities
If your people are arriving late,
we would like to map it.
Hospitals, factories, campuses, estates — anywhere a lot of people travel to one place at one time. Group opens on a corridor when enough of the people travelling it have said where they come from and when they need to be there, so the survey is the whole of it.
We are not asking you to run a fleet and we are not offering to run one for you today. We are asking which corridors are already carrying the load, so the first van goes somewhere it is actually needed rather than somewhere it looked good on a map.
Nothing on this page is a commitment to a route, a date or a price. When Group is ready to open somewhere, the people who told us about that corridor will be the first to know.
